What is Body Rejuvenation?

Body rejuvenation is a collection of corrective treatments which involves the application of enzymes or chemical peels to exfoliate the damaged outer layers of the skin, leaving your body feeling smooth and polished. These treatments diminish age spots, lighten hyperpigmentation, reduce rough areas and help maintain healthier, more youthful looking skin. A series of six treatments over a three-month period are recommended for optimal results.

Treatments for Youthful hands

Hands often reveal the first signs of aging. Dark spots can appear as early as age 30, especially for those who live in a year-round sunny climate. This is due to an increase in melanin caused by sun exposure. Like any other part of the body, protection is the first line of defense. Apply a moisturizing sunscreen 30 minutes before exposure for maximum protection and re-apply often when exposed to the sun.

The most common signs of aging hands are textural changes, hyperpigmentation and a loss of elasticity and collagen. So what can we do to make hands appear more youthful? There are topical therapies and resurfacing procedures for hands to reduce the visible signs of aging. Treatments include chemical peels, retinoids, hydroquinone and antioxidants. For best results, a series of light to medium chemical peels are recommended monthly along with a home care program.

Sun Damage

Sun damage, also known as photo-damage is the number-one offender for a less-than-perfect complexion. As the cumulative effects of the sun begin to take hold, the skin can turn from soft and clear, to rough and spotted. The best way to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun is with daily sunblock - combined with professional skin treatments.

Sun Damage Protection

Protect your skin to prevent damage by wearing sunscreen. Sunscreen provides two types of protection from UV light – either physical or chemical. While both work to defend against sun damage, each has a different approach to protecting the skin. Chemical sunscreens contain synthetic compounds that absorb UV rays. Physical sunscreens contain fine particles of inert minerals which reflect the sun’s rays. To prevent future damage wear sunscreen daily, apply at least 20 minutes prior to sun exposure and re-apply often to those areas exposed to the sun.

What Causes
Dark Spots

The Sun - UV rays produce excess pigmentation called melanin, which is deposited in the skin.
Inflammation - As the skin heals from an injury or trauma, discoloration can form within the skin
Acne - When the skin becomes inflamed, blemishes form and may cause pigmentation to that area.

Hormones - Birth Control, hormonal replacement therapy, menopause and pregnancy can cause a change in hormone levels resulting in an increase in pigmentation.

Laser and Deep Chemical Peels – The body may respond to aggressive procedures with brown patches or stripes.

Medications – Some types of antibiotics and medications to treat diabetes, cancer and heart disease may lead to hyperpigmentation as an allergic reaction or because of increased sun sensitivity.

While dark spots can be corrected, it takes professional treatment and diligent use of the right home care products to see results. Pretty Woman Day Spa offers corrective skin care and chemical peels to lighten and brighten sun damaged skin.
